Getting ready for your 2D/3D/4D ultrasound is an exciting time. We have all the tools necessary to make sure that you are comfortable and help you achieve the clearest ultrasound images of your little bundle! But there are a few things the mama-to-be can do before their appointment to help make their pictures that much better.
1. Hydration: Hydration preparation starts in advance prior to your ultrasound appointment. Be sure to increase your water intake a full 1-2 weeks prior to your 3D/4D/HD Ultrasound. Adequate hydration will allow amniotic fluid to be clear and capture clearer images.
*A full bladder is not necessary, but does give us the advantage of capturing images with a full bladder and having the option for you to empty your bladder if needed to see your baby better. Empty your bladder 90 minutes before your appointment time and then drink one 8-ounce glass of fluid an hour beforehand to stay hydrated.
2. Snack: Please refrain from eating or drinking anything (with the exception of water) 1 hour prior to your appointment time.
3. Something Cold: We have found drinking something cold and drinking it quickly 10 minutes prior to your appointment can get baby moving! This helps your blood sugar levels rise so it helps to wake The baby up a bit. Remember to always follow your doctor's dietary recommendations. Our studio has juice and water if needed during your appointment.
4. Be Comfortable: Wear loose-fitting clothing that is comfortable to move in. It’s best to wear clothes that you can move in easily, raise your arms, and is not restricting to the womb. We recommend a two-piece outfit so we can access your abdomen without you having to remove any clothes. If you desire to wear a dress, we have a blanket to cover your legs.
Following these instructions can help set you and your baby up for 3D/4D Ultrasound success!
