  • Yes. Women seeking an elective prenatal ultrasound with us are required to have already been receiving treatment with a healthcare provider for prenatal care and that you have been given an established due date (EDD) by your Clinician. We do not contact your doctor prior or post scan since this is an elective procedure.

We encourage you to include them in a discussion of all aspects of your pregnancy, including if they have any objection to you having an elective ultrasound.

Please note, at no time is this elective ultrasound to be used in place of a complete diagnostic ultrasound.

  • Certainly not. Not in any shape, way, or form. While we offer a unique and memorable experience through elective ultrasounds, it is important to understand that these sessions do not replace the medical ultrasounds provided by your healthcare provider.

It is crucial to emphasize that our services are purely elective and should absolutely not be considered a substitute for the comprehensive medical care provided by your healthcare provider. Medical ultrasounds conducted by trained medical professionals serve a vital diagnostic purpose, enabling them to monitor your baby's development, and ensure the overall well-being of both mother and child.

We strongly recommend that you continue to maintain regular appointments and communication with your medical provider throughout your pregnancy. They possess the expertise and knowledge to evaluate your health.

Pacific Northwest Peeks 3D/4D Ultrasound is committed to promoting the joy and wonder of seeing your baby before they are born. We are here to enhance your pregnancy journey by offering you a unique glimpse into your baby's world. However, our services should always be seen as an elective addition to your comprehensive prenatal care, rather than a replacement for it.

  • 2D scans are the traditional black and white images that are most common.

3D is a newer technology allowing to see depth in the ultrasound image

4D is the ability to watch the 3D image in real time.

HD LIVE is the newest technology which allows us to capture even clearer, sharper images and video. These images and videos are more defined, have a more realistic skin appearance, and have better resolution. Some people refer to this as 5D.

  • That depends on what you are looking to see. Many mothers like coming in early on, 15-26 weeks, when they can see the baby as a whole, and then again at 25-34 weeks to see a more detailed face. Between 28 and 32 weeks, your baby develops more fat and gets a more defined face. After 36 weeks, it becomes more and more difficult to obtain good pictures since the baby is running out of room. However all babies are different and we have been successful in obtaining great images all the way up to 40 weeks.

  • At 16 weeks, we can determine gender with high accuracy, and in many cases, as early as 14 weeks, as long as baby is in the right position!

If your baby isn’t quite ready to show us their gender and you’re past 16 weeks, don’t worry - we offer a complimentary rescan within the following two weeks as part of our Rescan Assurance Policy.

Planning a gender reveal or prefer not to know? We’ve got you covered!

    • Let us know ahead of time if you don’t want to know the gender or are saving it for a special reveal.

    • During your ultrasound, we’ll give you a heads-up before scanning near that area.

    • We’ll keep it secret during the exam and offer a few ways to deliver the surprise:

      • We can place the results in one of our gender reveal envelopes.

      • We’ll hand it off to someone of your choice to help with your celebration.

  • At Pacific Northwest Peeks, our number one priority is to capture the best possible images of your baby and ensure you’re 100% satisfied with your experience.

While we use top-of-the-line ultrasound equipment to help us achieve stunning results, there are a few natural factors that can impact image quality, many of which are out of anyone’s control. These include:

    • Baby’s position (e.g., facing away toward the spine)

    • Baby laying against the placenta

    • Gestational age

    • Location of the placenta

    • Amount and clarity of amniotic fluid

    • Overall fetal environment

Every baby scans a little differently, and we genuinely hope you’ll love and cherish your images, whatever sweet features baby decides to show us that day.

If we’re unable to obtain any 3D/4D images during your Mount Adams package, we are happy to offer one complimentary rescan (at our discretion) within 14 days to give baby another chance to show off.

    Please note:

    • Our cancellation policy still applies to all rescan appointments.

    • If a rescan appointment is missed or cancelled outside of our policy terms, the rescan will be forfeited.

  • Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! This will help to ensure your amniotic fluid is clear as well as full. In addition to your regular hydration practices, we recommend adding extra hydration one-two weeks before your appointment. An ample amount of amniotic fluid is a key factor to getting the best images! There are many things out of our control such as the baby's position, amount of amniotic fluid, etc.

Prior to your appointment: In addition to hydration, you can drink some juice, eat a snack, or drink ice cold water 10-15 minutes before your appointment to get baby moving and active.

We discuss this topic more in depth with our appointment prep materials.

  • Yes, absolutely! We encourage you to share this special moment with friends and family if you want to. Based on experience, having a smaller group creates a more intimate, and personalized experience, focus is on mama-to-be, while a group creates more of a fun atmosphere where guests engage in conversation amongst themselves. Choose whatever sounds best to you! Children are welcome and we provide plenty of toys and books to keep them entertained. Our ultrasound room can comfortably seat 9 people, but more are welcome if they would like to stand and watch.

  • Double the fun! We have no additional charge for twins. Please notify us at time of booking that you have multiples to allows us to extend your appointment time to get adorable images of each baby! We suggest having your ultrasound performed between the 22 & 26 weeks of the pregnancy to obtain the best possible images. Multiples tend to run out of room sooner.
